ICUM is preparing to serve our homeless community during the cold months ahead. In seven short weeks, will welcome 10 to 15 women who will stay with us from Saturday, November 19 until Saturday, November 26. During this Thanksgiving week, they will be treated to a wonderful Thanksgiving meal prepared by the Rossons! As part of the PACEM program, we’ll provide meals, night time shelter, and some food each morning, before the women go to the Haven for a hot breakfast in downtown Charlottesville. At least one other congregation will help by partnering with us for a meal.

We invite everyone to lend helpful hands in order to provide meals; an early evening activity; and loving company after a long, cold day. You might volunteer to monitor showers; or help to clean up each morning. Only a little of your time can make a big difference to these women’s lives. Thanksgiving week, in particular, is a way to give some comfort to those who are burdened with so much difficulty in their personal lives.

Each Sunday, someone will be in the social hall between services to help you sign up through SignUpGenius. Or, just go to the SignUpGenius web site to indicate the task(s) and the day(s) for which you’d be available. As we’ve been blessed, let us bless these women with our caring. God is good – ALL THE TIME.
