All persons are welcome to attend and participate in the fellowship and spiritual life of our church. We also invite you to join the membership of our church. To be a member of Ivy Creek United Methodist Church a person must:
-
Profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
-
Be baptized with water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
-
Take vows of membership before the congregation.
If you are interested in taking this step in your journey of faith, please contact Pastor Ed at IvyCreekPastorEd@gmail.com.
Persons may join in one of the following ways:
By Baptism and Profession of Faith
If you have never been baptized, you need to profess your faith in Christ and receive baptism, typically during Sunday worship. You may then take the vows of membership. If you are not now a baptized Christian, our pastor will be glad to discuss the meaning of baptism with you. That discussion may take place in your home or at the church.
By Profession of Faith
If you have been baptized, but never joined another Christian church, you need to profess your faith in Christ before the congregation at Sunday worship. Then you may take the vows of membership.
By Transfer from another Christian Church
As a baptized Christian you do not have to be baptized again or publicly profess your faith in Christ again. The pastor will write your former church to request a transfer of your membership. You do not have to write your former church. You will be asked to take the appropriate vows of membership according to the church you transfer from.
by Transfer from another United Methodist Church
You will be asked to take this vow at Sunday worship: “As a member of Ivy Creek United Methodist Church, will you faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness?”
BY Transfer from another Christian Denomination
You will be asked to take two vows at Sunday worship taken by all members of the United Methodist Church: “As a member of Christ’s universal Church, will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church, and do all in your power to strengthen its ministries?” and “As a member of Ivy Creek United Methodist Church, will you faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness?”
